John Deverell, Moderator of the Town Hall - Take Back Parliament: Is Proportional Representation the way?

There now appears to be a consensus among all political parties for a change in Canada’s “First Past the Post” (FPTP) electoral system.  The April 4, 2013 Leadnow-sponsored Environics poll found that 62% of Conservative supporters,   77% of Liberal supporters, 82% of NDP supporters and 93% of Green Party supporters voters “support moving towards a system of proportional representation in Canadian elections.”

The Environics poll also showed that 56% of supporters of the three opposition parties think that Canada’s democratic system is broken and needs fixing; 21% of Conservative supporters agree.
